Art education at Suder pushes students to think critically, problem solve creatively, and helps adolescents develop a greater sense of self-identity and self-esteem. In the art studio, students will investigate the elements of art and principles of design. Additionally, they will explore the roles that different cultures and periods of history have played in influencing the visual arts and, in turn, how art has shaped society as a whole. Students will learn about various art forms such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics, and have the opportunity to create works of art using an array of art mediums. Through examining famous works of art, students will gain inspiration for their own artwork and interpret how each artist used art as a tool of communication. Art instruction will foster self-expression and the use of art as a means of communication and provide student choice.
